EUROPEAN ARCHITECTURE SURVEY

Spring, Summer and Fall 2019

This section includes a number of selected hand drawings which demonstrate on-site analysis. The drawings featured include both in-class work as well as those done independently during my summer backpacking trip through Europe. Many of the drawings are in order of sequence through the project and feature the elements upon approach, while others are attempts to break up the spatial components or facades of a building. Having focused a majority of my time in highschool on two-dimensional arts, hand sketching is one of my favorite ways to investigate a project and document architectural moves I find interesting. When working at OKS Architetti in Florence, where few of my colleagues spoke English and I learning Italian, hand sketching provided media for the communication of complex architectural ideas. I regard my sketchbooks as precious, they hold documentation of my experiences and serve as notes on of sucessful architectural ideas and components.
